How Strong is your Eclipse? Curator's Concluding Text by Dr Lila Moore

The Eclipse Field was launched on 12 August 2026 to coincide with the total solar eclipse, bringing together artists working across geographical locations, media and perspectives within a shared networked space.

The exhibition began with the proposition that the eclipse might be approached not only as a celestial event, but as a field in which shifting perspectives and perceptions, imaginal, uncanny and peak experiences, and acts of participation could converge.

During the exhibition, visitors were invited to participate in Random Networked Rites in the Eclipse Field by contributing a numerical response reflecting the intensity of their own eclipse experience. These individual responses accumulated over time, generating a collective trace of participation.

The video How Strong Is Your Eclipse?, presented here, visualises the resulting participatory field. It remains as a trace of the encounters and responses that entered The Eclipse Field during its active life. The outcome, based on the numbers received, takes the form of the eclipse as a peak experience: a mountain peak where nature and psyche, cosmos and consciousness coincide.

The active life of The Eclipse Field has now come to an end. This webpage remains as a trace of the works, experiences and connections that formed within it.

My heartfelt thanks to the participating artists, whose innovative spirits resonated with the power of this cosmic phenomenon and its transformative impact: Anna Utopia Giordano and Leonardo Barilaro, Nicola Bertoglio, Mora Ibarra, Elena Shilova, Caroline McManus, Luciana Haill and Lia Moore.

The field has closed. The trace remains.
