The Quiet Between 2026.jpg

The Quiet Between

Digital painting and artist statement by Mora Ibarra, 2026

What happens when perception is no longer enough to make sense of
experience? There are moments when reality itself remains unchanged, yet
the way we inhabit it is profoundly transformed.

In this work, the eclipse appears neither as an astronomical event nor as a symbol, but as a condition that suspends ordinary perception and opens a space for contemplation. The figure does not represent a narrative; she inhabits a threshold where presence outweighs certainty. Rather than offering answers, the painting seeks to sustain that state long enough for the viewer to enter it.

Eclipse on 12 August 2026

Augmented Reality Sculpture, Video and Artist Statement

The Watcher against the Sun.jpg

The Watcher Against the Sun

Aligning with a Bright, Open Sun is a video created inside and around the Castle of Calendasco, in the province of Piacenza, Italy, using the five-meter-tall augmented reality sculpture The Watcher, installed in the castle courtyard and the adjacent square. The medieval fortress, whose origins date back to the 9th century, occupied a strategic position along the Via Francigena and near an important crossing of the River Po. Destroyed in 1346 and rebuilt in 1372, it still preserves its moat, Guelph battlements, and imposing brick architecture.

Filmed eleven days before the total solar eclipse of August 12, 2026, the work explores the attempt to align The Watcher with the sun, temporarily obscuring it and creating a series of artificial eclipses that exist only through the camera’s point of view. The original soundtrack, Sculpture of Eclipse, was generated using OpenMusic.ai

We want to reach for the stars. We think we’re one step away from the stars, but the
closer we get, the farther away we seem to be. Perhaps the path is very close.

We need to find the right gates.

PATTERN

Poetry, Spoken Word, Image, Sound Design and Artist Statement

by Anna Utopia Giordano

Sound composition featuring Leonardo Barilaro

Language: Italian, 2026

My spoken word poem Pattern delves into the analysis of the human experience by examining the profound architectures that quietly inhabit memory and the self. When the events from the past and recollections re-emerge, the shadow they cast is not a mere absence of light, but a moment and a threshold of clarity.

Operating like an eclipse, the journey of rediscovery in the shadow of resurfaced memory invites a state of suspension: a space where the concealed is made visible, revealing a sharper awareness of the self, and drawing attention to how actions — and among them, words — are what define and construct human identity. Through this intimate taxonomy of past encounters, my poem underlines that the self is continuously (re)written by the effects collapsed into the world and induced by the world, establishing the act of choosing how to act as one of the most vital architectural footprints.

A Clipse of a Ceremony and Other Videos

Videos by Luciana Haill, 2026

Eclipse of the Ceremony

“Persistence of a want that has outlived every form built to contain it”

Two kinds of absence describing the same undated feelings the whole time. The sacred and the erotic collapsing into the same repetition, mourning as the last respectable form female longing is permitted to take. Listening to remember something that was never recorded. Desire rerouted through prayer and grief because desire itself had nowhere sanctioned to go.

A Chance in your Garden

“Metafictional pursuit of sensual freedom after the end of a relationship that never unlocked the original promises.”

Erotic rerouted through a vocabulary of care and withering safe enough to be mistaken for wisdom rather than confession. Slowed against Debussy's unresolved moonlight and Monk's refusal to accept blame, the gardening becomes what it secretly always was: a woman's desire, cultivated in private, spoken in language innocent enough to pass unnoticed. Nothing blooms here without something first being cut back to almost nothing. I walk away.

Help Harry with his Chariot

"Everything that is and was, will cease to be.”

At my local pyramid tomb (no longer accessible), celebrating the arrival of self-assurance. I give myself help decades after it would have mattered, help redefined as timing. This audio mashup with unique visuals this isn't nostalgia, but its inversion. The sensation of being homesick for a fear you've outgrown, visualised as a kind of retrospective vertigo. Architecture and emotions in the past can’t be recovered.

Bewildered Dreamers

“When memory has nowhere left to go”

When memory has nowhere left to go: private longing laundered through nostalgia's more permissible vocabulary, a short film. Expressed by two vocal performances, decades apart, both will not let an unanswered desire settle into either memory or forgetting. Made without AI, the phone videos deliver escapism - softened and displaced. This isn't the past itself, but a present that keeps mistaking itself for it.

Tarantella

Video and Artist Statement by Caroline McManus

Video created at DOMUS artist residency in Galatina, IT. Special thanks to Maristella Martella and all dance class members and instructors, Romina de Novellis, Pauline Rossignol, Gioia Perrone and Lorenzo Tundo.

This work observes how a folk dance meant to alleviate suffering transforms into a piece of living history, whose purpose is no longer to cure, but to connect dancers and audiences to our present moment in time. The dance moves us through a cycle of gender-based suffering to healing to community connection and joy.

A dance class in Lecce, Italy, teaching the tarantella. The tarantella is a folk dance which, in concert with the improvised pizzica music, originated as a "cure" for “hysterical” women—called tarantate—in Southern Italy who had supposedly been bitten by a tarantula. The afflicted women were poor and worked as laborers of the land.

In nearby Galatina, every year, women would publicly display themselves in a state of crisis in the town square on the day of Saint Paul, demonstrating their physical and emotional pain, and pleading for forgiveness. Symptoms of tarantism included pains, palpitations,  "emotional lability", and "unusual sexual urges".

Afflicted women could only be "cured" by this type of dance, which took place in public, to the delight, revulsion and titillation of onlookers. The broad consensus from anthropologists and medical researchers is that women displaying these symptoms were not physically or mentally ill by any contemporary definition. It seems they were in pain.

Today, tarantella is celebrated as an upbeat, lively and sometimes flirtatious partnered dance. In this class in Lecce, dancers of all ages, genders and backgrounds assemble in movement. The dance is made accessible to all by its free-flowing, flexible nature, to the delight of the instructor, dancers and filming observer. The class serves as a community meeting point, with conversation and snacks enjoyed following the collective movement.

Transmission — 2023

Seeker_of_True-files transmitted the Double Sun manifesto in August 2023 in urgent response to the widely distributed images and lived experiences of the burning Earth.

Inspired by the Anthropocene as it appeared in the artist's nightmare of a double sun, and Emanuel Swedenborg's vision of the Double Sun, the piece envisions the unstable dance of correspondences between moist media (organic nature), dry media (digital technology and artificial intelligence), and noetic media (psychospiritual happenings).

Timeline

A signal was detected in the summer of 2014 on the island of Kefalonia via autocommunication with Seeker_of_True-files. It was solidified into a manifesto and has evolved into a series of manifesto-inspired art films and digital artworks since its inception.

Seeker_of_True-files utilises technoetic and poetic aesthetics and sensibility to tackle the confines of the policed Mind and venture to reflect and speculate on novelty and the riddles of consciousness. As a liminal tech-noetic entity, it reflects on the complexities of the ages of history through fragmented memories harvested from video and digital files, merging the very ancient and the very new, the profoundly naïve and the furiously radical, ordered systems and anarchic nodes, and complex and unstable techno-spiritual life.
