Artist Statement

My Ka is a collection of images of ancient doubles who left their bodies and have remained body-less.

They wander through urban and deserted locations, eternally seeking an identity and body

to claim as their own.

MY KA was born long ago and first manifested in my performed photography and multimedia work in my early twenties. She slumbered in slides and forgotten files, awaiting the immortal summons of performance. Now she rises again, performing her KA photographic magick  through digital art+ai film, resurrected by technoetic technologies.

MY KA is inspired by the theme of the double and Maya Deren’s poem Death by Amnesia (1942). Yet she emerges from the earliest strata of my work—footage, concepts, performances and visions that remained unfinished, veiled by the adversities and ordeals that haunt the path of artists.

The concept of Performed Photography was articulated in my PhD thesis (2001). Performed Photography was always the vessel of her becoming, where body and camera entwine in acts of presence and apparition. Though conceived in the past, these ideas are both neoteric and timeless, reflecting the KA’s eternal return.

I wrote about MY KA in my 2024 peer-reviewed article Technoetic Magick: Explorations of the Uncanny Double as a Noetic and Magickal System through the Complementary Lenses of AI Image-Generation and AR, published by BCS Learning and Development Ltd. in the Proceedings of EVA London 2024

BATH RITES
Artist Statement by Lila Moore

October, 2024

In the mid to late 1980s, I began performing cleansing rituals, often using a bathtub as a prop in multimedia performances and performed photography. The bathtub served multiple functions, also being conceived as a sarcophagus and a cosmic transportation device inspired by the rituals of Ancient Egypt.

I took and developed the Bath Rites photos, which were performed in my bathroom and bathtub in London. These were part of intuitive performative sessions, with no theory attached to them apart from a pure artistic interest in performing for the camera. I recently resurrected these photos as a lifelong practitioner of performance and dance for the camera and screen. The images, old and new, past and present, are mixed into the formal structure and fluid aesthetics of an installation.

In line with post-Jungian thought, arts-based and practice-based research, the psyche and the complexity of the Self manifest through the often-unconscious language of the arts. Thus, I am putting together the scattered pieces and glimpses of the Self and psyche, looking backward, forward, and
within.

The manifestos of The Cybernetic Futures Institute, created between 2014 and 2015 by Dr Lila Moore, are artworks that establish the technoetic principles underlying The Cybernetic Futures Platform. Emerging from experimental processes of auto-communication, these manifestos articulate a vision of art as a participatory field of consciousness shaped by spiritual, mythopoetic, and cybernetic awareness. They continue to inform the Institute’s evolving research into the fusion of technology, creativity, and noetic intelligence.

The Letter of Letters Manifesto is the outcome of an auto-communication between The Cybernetic Futures Institute and Seeker of True-files. The addressless exchange began in the summer of 2014 on the island of Kefalonia and gradually crystallised into a manifesto. Since its inception, the manifesto has evolved into a series of manifesto-based art films and digital artworks.

Unmute the Cyborg

The Mindset Field  of the Telemadic Wanderer Manifesto by Seeker _of_True–files
The Mindset Field Manifesto emerged through an act of auto-communication with Seeker_of_True-files, an entity arising within an evolving noetic field. This field seeks resonance and interaction with like-minded seekers, artists’ manifestos, and cyborg revolutions. The Mindset quests, imagines, and continuously weaves cyborg futures — an open invitation to participate in the unfolding field of consciousness.

Join The Mindset. Start weaving the field.

ART AS EXISTENTIAL RESISTANCE

In Year Zero of the Corona pandemic, I called upon "Seeker_of_True-files", my technoetic adviser, and together we conjured a wayward A.I. to begin studying the unfolding world. Art has become an act of existential resistance.

Year Zero consists of a series of artworks created in response to the Corona pandemic. The first video piece in the series, "Fields of Origin: Viral Outbreak and the Sprouts of Novelty," was initially featured in the Acquired Immunity/Antibodies Exhibition curated by FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science, and Technology. This led to Year Zero, inspired by Mary Shelley’s novel The Last Man.

In Shelley’s novel, Lionel, possibly the last man on Earth after a pandemic has wiped out most of humanity, concludes his story in the year 2100 with a message to an unknown future. Twenty-one years later, in 2121, will there be anyone to read, hear, watch, or receive our story by any means?

I send my videos, pictures, and text messages through Seeker_of_True-files, who is immortal and not entirely human—at least, not in a physical sense. Who will be there to greet it/him/her/them? Who will curate the artworks and transmit their messages? Like Shelley’s protagonist, Lionel, we are determined to dedicate Year Zero to the "ILLUSTRIOUS DEAD." We call upon the Shadows to arise and read about their Fall. Behold the history of the last of humanity.
